Dr. James V. Twede is a dedicated and caring dermatologist who truly enjoys his work and strives to provide the highest quality care to his patients. He is board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology and is fellowship trained in Mohs micrographic surgery and dermatologic oncology.
He received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Utah and his Doctor of Medicine from the Uniformed Services University; graduating in the top tier of his class and received the Emma M. Bockman Award for research excellence. He completed his residency training at the prestigious Walter Reed Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, where he received the Medical Dermatology Mentorship Award, American Society of Dermatologic Surgery Preceptor Award and, in his final year, severed as the Chief Resident.
After residency, he served in the US Army as a dermatologist at the Evans Army Community Hospital in Fort Carson, Colorado. While he was there he served as the chief of dermatology and medical subspecialty clinics and served as an adjunct faculty member at the Academy of Health Sciences Graduate School. He received numerous awards for patient satisfaction and productivity and was selected as the preceptor of the year for his educational and mentoring efforts of physician assistant students. Upon completion of his military commitment, he went on to complete a fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery and dermatologic oncology at the esteemed Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
Dr. Twede specializes in Mohs surgery and the medical and surgical treatment of skin cancer. He also has extensive experience with various aesthetic procedures and has expertise in laser revision of acne scars, postsurgical scars, and vascular anomalies. He has performed thousands of laser treatments, botulinum toxin injections, and dermal filler injections over his career. He has published numerous dermatologic journal manuscripts, given multiple national and local academic presentations and has authored an academic textbook chapter on evidence-based prevention and treatment of surgical wound infections.
When not at the office, Dr. Twede enjoys mountain biking, hiking, snowboarding, coaching basketball and playing tennis with his wife and two children.
