Kathryn Harrison, DMSc, PA-C, Diplomat Fellow of the SDPA

“I love working in Dermatology, because I enjoy helping patients look and feel great about themselves by managing and treating their unique skin conditions.”

Kathryn Harrison is a Board-Certified Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants since 2012. She also earned a Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) in Dermatology in 2024. Obtaining a CAQ requires advanced dermatology training, demonstration of competency in clinical skills, and successfully passing a dermatology specialty proctored board exam. A specialty CAQ credential highlights expertise and experience within the field of dermatology.

She earned a Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc) degree from A.T. Still University in 2024. The DMSc degree is exclusive for Physician Assistants who seek advanced clinical skills, education, professionalism, leadership, medical research, to publish in peer-reviewed medical journals and present research at national conferences. Her research was concentrated on skin cancer detection using dermoscopy; to determine if the implementation of dermoscopy improves the accuracy, specificity, and sensitivity rates of skin cancer detection among dermatology clinicians and identify the optimal training method for dermatology clinicians to become proficient in dermoscopy. Kathryn is the recipient of the 2024 Doctor of Medical Science Capstone Award of Excellence from A.T. Still University.

Kathryn completed advanced training in dermatology through a didactic fellowship program through the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (SDPA) in 2018. The SDPA Diplomat Fellowship Program is the premier training for physician assistants working in Dermatology. After earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Integrative Physiology from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2007, she completed the Physician Assistant Program at Red Rocks Community College and Master of Medical Science Program at Saint Francis University in 2012.

Kathryn joined Forefront Dermatology Practice in 2012. She performs skin cancer screening exams and treats patients for acute and chronic skin conditions. She performs in-office procedures including cryotherapy, electrodessication, shave biopsies, punch biopsies, and excisions. She also performs cosmetic consultations, designs customized medical-grade skin care regimens, and esthetic procedures including laser treatments for skin rejuvenation. She is certified to perform injectable procedures including neurotoxins, hyaluronic acid injections, and collagen stimulator injections for natural beauty enhancements.
